Capacity side, the domestic alkaline electrolyzer market maintained 35.77GW this week, with no new capacity added. Delivery side, Shanghai Hydrogen Era Technology Co., Ltd. delivered four 1050Nm³/h units to the China Energy Construction Songyuan Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park project. Zhongji Zhongdian (Yangzhou) Hydrogen Production Equipment Co., Ltd. successfully delivered a 1000Nm³/h alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production complete set, including a 1000Nm³/h electrolyzer, separation skid, purification skid, and supporting equipment such as water-alkali tanks. Last Wednesday, Sany Hydrogen delivered a 200Nm³/h PEM water electrolysis hydrogen refueling station customized for an Australian client. LONGi Hydrogen delivered two 1000Nm³/h electrolyzers to Australia, while Wolong Innergy delivered one MW-level AEM electrolyzer, with the delivery destination yet to be confirmed.

Asuero Hydrogen delivered one 1000Nm³/h alkaline unit to Australia, and Xibeiyou Hydrogen delivered one 1000Nm³/h unit to a green hydrogen project in Jilin. PEM side, Hydrogen Hui Energy delivered one 50Nm³/h unit to Europe last week. As of March 20, 2025, domestic companies (including overseas deliveries) had delivered a total of 10MW of alkaline electrolyzers (data sourced from public information).

Electrolyzer orders side, as of this week, Mingyang Hydrogen won the bid for the Liupanshan Laboratory's 50 standard cubic meter alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production system. The Shaanxi Coal Xinyang 2x1000MW ultra-supercritical unit project's third batch of auxiliary equipment (hydrogen production system) procurement announced the bid winner as Beijing Power Equipment Group, with the winning product being one 1000 standard cubic meter alkaline electrolyzer. Additionally, LONGi Hydrogen recently signed a supply agreement with Saudi Arabia's NEOM for the world's largest single green hydrogen project, confirming at least one 2000 standard cubic meter alkaline electrolyzer order. As of April 10, 2025, at least 47 1000Nm³/h orders and one 2000 standard cubic meter alkaline electrolyzer order were confirmed, including 10 units for Xingong Green Hydrogen, 16 for Sungrow Hydrogen, 12 for CRRC Zhuzhou, eight for Sany Hydrogen, and one for Beijing Power Equipment Group.

Policy Updates

  1. The European Commission approved a €4 billion electrolyzer special fund, providing a 30% equipment cost subsidy for projects with capacity ≥500MW/year and setting a 2030 green hydrogen project electrolyzer efficiency target of ≥60% (LHV basis).
  2. China's National Energy Administration issued the Alkaline Electrolyzer Energy Efficiency Limit Standard, mandating that new projects have unit hydrogen production energy consumption ≤4.3kWh/Nm³, with off-grid hydrogen production projects receiving a ¥0.15/kWh electricity price discount.

Corporate Updates

  1. Thyssenkrupp (Germany) commenced construction of its Kuala Lumpur electrolyzer plant in Malaysia, with planned annual capacity of 5GW using modular alkaline electrolyzer design, targeting cost reduction to €350/kW.
  2. Cummins (US) completed the acquisition of the UK's ITM Separator Technology, gaining access to the patented technology of new-type organic-inorganic composite separators.

Patent Application

  1. The Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China) disclosed patent CN2025110028, focusing on the R&D of ceramic-based anion exchange membranes, which achieved a laboratory-tested lifespan of 80,000 hours.
  2. Johnson Matthey (UK) submitted patent WO2025109876, revealing the formulation of a Fe-Ni-Mo ternary non-precious metal catalyst with activity approaching that of platinum-based materials.

Technological Advancements

  1. Cockerill Jingli (China) completed real-world testing of the "Enhanced Start-Stop" alkaline electrolyzer, achieving up to 20 start-stop cycles per day, with the Inner Mongolia project operating at an energy consumption of 4.15 kWh/Nm³.
  2. Nel Hydrogen (Norway) launched the new-generation PEM electrolyzer, HySyner500, which increased current density to 5 A/cm² and reduced material costs per unit of capacity by 22%.
